The National Art School will present the Dobell Drawing Prize in March 2019. The new biennial Prize will be presented alongside a drawing symposium that explores the importance of drawing in all its diversity.
The new Dobell Drawing Prize will run in alternative years to the Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. (That exhibition is a curated show featuring the works of a handful of artists, working to a theme. It’s been going since 2012.)
First prize is $30,000. Artist Ben Quilty has been chosen as the judge of the 2019 Dobell Drawing Prize, selecting both the finalists and the winning work. The Prize will be acquisitive to benefit public collections and the exhibition is planned to tour to Regional Galleries.
Deadline 3 September 2018.
Exhibition dates 28 March – 25 May 2019 @ NAS Gallery
